Could Your Kids Play the Old NES Games without Throwing a Temper Tantrum?

Posted by Joey on Oct. 14th, 2016

Do you remember playing the same level over and over again? Do you remember the satisfaction you had when you finally beat it? Get your kids playing these 5 most challenging NES games to make you a top notch gaming parent.

Super Mario Run for Mobile Apps is coming out this December and unlike older Mario games, it seems super easy. Are today's kids mentally soft? Could they play the old NES games without crying to their mommy's. Are you a horrible parent? While retro games can be challenging, they are also rewarding in a way that today's games and maybe today's kids can't seem to match.

5)Castlevania II: Simon's Quest

This game makes you have to actually think and problem solve. Can kids today do this anymore? Your kids will when they beat this action RPG! This game was hard because it forced you to talk to townspeople for clues and you weren't given any other hints for the puzzles you had to solve.

Hard Rating: 3 out of 5 Whining Children.

4)Friday the 13th

If all your characters die in this game, it's over. Get ready for your kids to throw the controller out the window. Jason is not your kids pre-school teacher. He will chase you down and kill you with an Axe. It doesn't get any better than this. When you die you are switched to a different counselor and if you've lost the good ones early, there isn't much chance of you winning.

Hard Rating: 3 out of 5 Screams

3)Battletoads

OMG, Don't even let your kids play this game. They probably can't handle it because you have not prepared them for the real world and definitely not the Battletoad's world. It is often cited as one of the hardest games ever made and should your kids try playing it? You bet they should.

Hard Rating: 5 out of 5 OMG's

2)Ninja Gaiden

Seriously, Ninja Gaiden is frik'n awesome and you should be ashamed of yourself as a parent for not showing your kids this game. If you beat this game in your life you have acomplished something great because it's super hard to do. You are constantly falling to your death, getting killed by respawning bad guys and BIRDS!!!

Hard Rating: 5 out of 5 Thrown Controllers

1)Ghosts 'n Goblins

This is one Seriously Hard game. There are no one-ups you can only take 2 hits before you die! The enemies are smart and fast and can easily dodge your weapons, and the worst thing of all, once you beat the game, you're forced to do it all over again as you realize your first play through was merely a dream!

Hard Rating: 5 out of 5 Groans

Beating any one of these 5 games is an accomplishment to be proud of, and there's plenty more tough games where these came from!
