Did Mega Man 3 Live Up to Expectations?

Posted by Steven Collier on Jan. 20th, 2016

In 1990, Mega Man 2 was widely regarded as one of the greatest video game sequels ever made for the Nintendo NES. So, when Mega Man 3 dropped, people were skeptical over Capcom's claims that they'd created their greatest NES Mega Man game yet. So, did Mega Man 3 measure up to its predecessor?

Yes. Yes! A thousand times, yes!

Mega Man 3 game for the Nintendo Entertainment System had more stages, more bosses, more amazing music, and more abilities than ever before! The introduction of your handy dog/jet airplane: Rush, gave players unprecedented freedom in exploring every level. And I haven't evened even mentioned that it gave us the single greatest gameplay innovation of the entire series:

Is walking too slow for you? Slide! See an object out of reach? Slide! Need a getaway: SLIDE!
This move was so good, it became a series trademark.

Mega Man 3 more than lives up to the quality of earlier games. If you love the Mega Man series at all, 3 isn't just worth experiencing, it's a mandatory must-play! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
